Preliminary information on the cost of using toll roads in Uzbekistan has been released, official sources reported. This project aims to modernize the country's transport system, create convenience for drivers, and reduce traffic congestion.
At a meeting held in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Committee on Roads under the Ministry of Transport presented calculations on toll roads. According to Hasan Umarov, the chief legal advisor of the committee, according to the analysis conducted so far, the cost of covering 200 kilometers on a toll road is expected to be around 100,000 soums.
According to him, this amount is equal to half the fine applied to drivers who violate speed limits on regular roads. Therefore, toll roads provide not only convenience but also time and safety advantages.
"Paid roads provide convenient movement for citizens. Thanks to them, drivers will save time and have the opportunity to move safely and steadily. At the same time, congestion on free roads will also decrease, and the traffic flow will be consistent," said Hasan Umarov.
It is also planned that in the future, tariffs for toll roads will be formed with the participation of private investors. Based on the approved methodology, they are granted the right to independently determine the payment amount. This system will be differentiated - that is, the fee can be calculated separately for the length of the route or for each kilometer.
According to experts, the system of toll roads contributes to the development of road infrastructure in the country, balancing traffic flow, and increasing economic efficiency. Passenger and freight transportation time will be reduced, vehicle consumption will decrease, and road safety will improve.
When the new system is fully operational, drivers will have a choice: to travel on a fast and convenient toll road or on a regular route. Representatives of the transport sector emphasized that this step will be an important stage in the formation of a modern logistics system in the country.
