Uzbekistan to introduce “Car-Free Day” and “Car-Free Week” campaigns

New campaigns are being introduced in Uzbekistan to clean the air and support ecology. In accordance with the Presidential Decree (PF–46, 25.03.2026), starting from May 1, 2026, “Car-Free Day” and “Car-Free Week” campaigns will be held on the 10th and 25th of each month.
Within the framework of these campaigns, civil servants will be deprived of the right to use official transport, but their salaries will be retained. At the same time, starting from August 1, 2026, individuals and legal entities who have handed over old cars will be reimbursed part of the car loan interest when purchasing new transport through the “trade-in” program
Also, within the framework of the “Ecological Transport” system, the territory of Tashkent city will be divided into “red”, “yellow” and “green” zones. Work will also begin on the construction of "green walls" in Surkhandarya and Syrdarya regions to prevent dust storms in rural and urban areas.
These initiatives are aimed at improving the health of the population and air quality, and serve to raise environmental awareness.
