Honda halts Ridgeline production, returns in 2028 with a new V6

Honda has announced a 1.5-year production hiatus for its Ridgeline pickup to undergo a major overhaul. Assembly of the model at the company's Alabama plant will cease in Q4 2026 and will only resume in Q3 2028, according to a report by Ixbt.com.

During this break, the freed-up production capacity will be used to increase output of the Passport and Odyssey models. The temporary suspension of the Ridgeline is due not only to low sales volumes but also to tightening environmental regulations.

As part of the expected update, the pickup will feature an entirely new design, improved components, and, most importantly, a modernized V6 engine that meets new environmental standards. Although Honda representatives have not disclosed technical details, they emphasized that the Ridgeline remains important to the brand.

For context, the Ridgeline does not have high market performance. For example, in Q1 2026, 10,980 units were sold in the US, while its main competitor, the Toyota Tacoma, sold over 69,000 units in the same period.
