British singer Ed Sheeran sings a song called "Azizam" (video)

"Azizam" was released on April 4, 2025, through Sheeran's own label Gingerbread Man Records, and was distributed by Warner Records as the lead single from his eighth album Play. The song was written by Sheeran, Ilya Salmanzadeh, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha. The 5 CD single and 7-inch single will be released on April 30, 2025.

The word "Azizam" comes from Persian and translates as "my dear" or "my lover." The song features a lively dance rhythm influenced by Persian music. The song was recorded by several Iranian and Indian performers, who played instruments such as the ghatam, daf, santur, hammered cymbals, or lute, and provided background vocals. "Azizam" was inspired by Sheeran's wife (Cherry Seaborn) and their relationship.

On March 15, 2025, Sheeran performed the song "Azizam" for the first time during an impromptu street performance in New Orleans. Four days later, a 30-second clip of "Azizam" was released on YouTube.

The music video, starring Iranian-British comedian Omid Jalili, was filmed in mid-February 2025 in South London, after Sheeran had finished his tour in India. The official video for the song was released on April 4, 2025, on Sheeran's YouTube channel.
