Military-Political Tensions Between the US and Cuba Reach a Peak

The geopolitical situation in the North and Central American region has suddenly taken a critical turn. The long-standing coldness and political tension between the White House and the Cuban leadership have flared up again. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the Island of Freedom (Cuba) poses a direct "serious threat to national security" for the United States. For this reason, the chances of reaching a peace agreement and restoring diplomatic relations with official Havana are currently assessed as "very low." This was reported by the world-famous BBC news agency.
Washington's sharp statements were not made without reason. Just a day earlier, the US justice system had officially filed murder charges against the former President of Cuba, the legendary Raul Castro. The issue dates back to 1996, when two planes belonging to the humanitarian organization "Brothers to the Rescue" were shot down by the Cuban Air Force over international waters, resulting in the deaths of three American citizens. Years later, Washington has accused Raul Castro, now 94, of directly ordering the killing of the Americans.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio firmly emphasized that US President Donald Trump has the full legal right and obligation to protect his country and citizens from any foreign threats, even by force of arms.
Is hope for diplomacy lost?
On May 21 during a conversation with media representatives, Marco Rubio acknowledged that diplomatic negotiations remain the most optimal way to coordinate relations between the two countries. However, he did not hide the White House's disappointment:
“To be honest, given who we are dealing with in Cuba and the political regime there, the probability of peace being established in the near future is extremely low,” the US chief diplomat added.
Furthermore, he openly accused the Cuban leadership of being "one of the main sponsors financing and supporting international terrorism in the entire American region."
Havana's sharp response: "This is simply a lie and aggression"
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reacted quickly and sharply to these serious accusations from the White House. He accused Marco Rubio of "blatantly lying" to the international community, stating that the Cuban state has never threatened US security in its history and has never intended to do so.
According to the head of the Island of Freedom's foreign policy department, Secretary of State Rubio is deliberately trying to "incite military aggression" and drag both nations into the vortex of war. Rodriguez noted with regret that official Washington has been continuing "brutal, unjust, and systematic" economic and political attacks against the Cuban people and their sovereignty for many years.
A massive nuclear aircraft carrier fleet enters the Caribbean Sea
Against the backdrop of diplomatic wars, the US Armed Forces have begun to demonstrate their readiness for real military action. According to an official statement from the US Southern Command, a massive strike group led by the famous nuclear-powered USS Nimitz aircraft carrier has officially entered the Caribbean Sea basin.
This massive fleet is not alone; the following major military forces have been deployed near the Cuban coast as part of it:
Including many fighter and bomber aircraft, Carrier Air Wing 17 combat aviation group;
Armed with the most modern missile systems, USS Gridley guided-missile destroyer;
Ensuring the fleet's long-term combat operations, USNS Matuxent special supply tanker.
Pentagon command did not hide that the purpose of mobilizing this massive naval force to the region is to clearly demonstrate the "high level of combat readiness, potential for rapid strikes at any distance, and strategic superiority" of US military forces. World political analysts are expressing concern that a new "Missile Crisis" could begin in the Caribbean basin.
Do you think the US sending a nuclear aircraft carrier near Cuba will ignite a new war in the region, or is this just a political demonstration to intimidate Havana?
