Uzbekistan has taken another step forward in the European agricultural market, reported zamon.uz.
The company “Yangiyul – Agro Star,” in cooperation with the Business Development Bank, has exported 36 tons of dried tomato paste to Italy. This is considered one of the major achievements in expanding international cooperation in the country’s agricultural sector.
The export was carried out under a 200-ton contract signed in March of this year with the Italian company “Areafredda.” The agreement covers not only the supply of products but also the adaptation of production processes to European standards.
Italian agronomists participated directly in the tomato planting, care, and drying stages, providing local farmers with modern, science-based agricultural recommendations.
As a result, 623 tons of tomato raw material were harvested and processed into export-ready products. During the process, 300 people were provided with seasonal employment.
Due to the project’s high efficiency, a new agreement was reached to export 2,000 tons of tomato products in 2026.
The company plans to establish tomato drying plantations next year in the Kashkadarya, Andijan, and Syrdarya regions. This will not only create new jobs but also help build a stable market system for tomato-growing farmers.
