According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2025, the number of enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan reached 474.9 thousand. Interestingly, almost a third of the country's enterprises operate in the trade sector.
By type of economic activity, the largest share falls on the trade sector - 153,370 enterprises. Next:
- industry - 59,520 units,
- agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 34,881,
- accommodation and food services - 30,374,
- construction - 30,343 units,
- transportation and storage - 17,245,
- healthcare and social services - 14,283,
- information and communication - 11,901,
- other areas - 122,982.
According to data previously provided by the State Statistics Committee, out of 474.9 thousand enterprises, 403.8 thousand (85 percent) are small enterprises and microfirms. That is, the main movement in the market is carried out by small businesses rather than "heavy artillery."
In terms of regions, the places where the largest number of enterprises are concentrated were also revealed: Tashkent city (108,678) is in first place. Then come Tashkent region (46,479), Samarkand region (41,091), Fergana region (37,846), and Kashkadarya region (30,424).
