Is there a restriction on Indian animals in Uzbekistan?

Starting January 29, 2026, Uzbekistan has temporarily banned the import of live animals and birds from India, according to a decision by the Chief State Veterinary Inspector.
According to the restriction, the import of live animals and birds from all regions of India, as well as all types of products under the control of the state veterinary service from the state of West Bengal, is prohibited.
This decision was made to prevent the threat of the Nipah virus. According to the International Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and open sources, the epidemiological situation has become complicated due to the widespread transmission of the virus in the Indian state of West Bengal.
