Many people try to avoid conflict, but according to experts, this phenomenon is natural and even beneficial. As Peopletalk reports, arguments strengthen closeness in families, couples, or colleagues and develop mutual understanding.
Psychologists note that if there are no disagreements in a relationship at all, this can be a cause for concern. According to Dr. Sara Kors, Chief Clinical Director of the Council for Relationships in Philadelphia, arguments allow people to better understand themselves and others: “We often misinterpret other people’s feelings and thoughts, and conflict helps to clarify this,” she says.
Difficult communication helps to specify or update a person’s views. In addition, arguments also bring positive results in the workplace. Experts point out that such situations create an environment where people feel safe, which opens up the opportunity to express opinions freely and disagree with others.
