One of the least noticeable, but most dangerous factors for the human body is excessive sugar consumption. Cardiologist and Candidate of Medical Sciences Olga Stoyko announced this in a video message posted on Telegram. According to him, most people are afraid of cholesterol, but sugar and simple carbohydrates are the main factor that closes blood vessels and opens the "track to heart attack," Topnews wrote.
According to the doctor, especially added sugars and sweet drinks are considered "white poison" for the human body. "White bread, cookies, lemonade, and carbonated sweet drinks - these should be completely excluded from the diet. They intensify the inflammatory process, disrupt blood circulation, and damage the vascular wall," says Stoyko.
According to the expert, it is as a result of these processes that "bad" cholesterol is drawn into the endothelium - the inner layer of the vessel - and forms barriers (posters). This condition eventually leads to heart attacks and strokes. "Excess sugar forces the liver to produce fat, as a result of which substances sticking to the walls of blood vessels increase," the cardiologist added.
Olga Stoyko drew attention to another important detail - sugar, while retaining water in the body, causes an increase in blood pressure. "One molecule of sugar holds four molecules of water. Therefore, excessive sweets negatively affect not only the heart, but also the kidneys and brain," he said.
The doctor advised Russians to radically change their diet in the near future. According to him, "complex carbohydrates" - long-ripening grains, vegetables, fruits, and sources of protein (for example, lentils or beans) - are quite beneficial for the body.
The cardiologist also highlighted the benefits of green tea. He emphasized that green tea creates an "antioxidant shield" that protects the cardiovascular system. However, adding sugar to it nullifies the benefit. "It is recommended to add a piece of lemon or ginger to green tea. "If consumed regularly, it reduces the level of 'bad' LDL cholesterol," he concluded.
Thus, according to the doctor, the most dangerous food for a modern person is sugar-rich products. By limiting their consumption, a person significantly reduces not only cholesterol but also the risk of heart disease.
