On February 19, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq bin Fawzan al-Rabia, who was visiting our country.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed to the head of our state the greetings and sincere wishes of King Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the country, Muhammad Al Saud. The Minister also presented the King's gift to the multinational people of Uzbekistan - a piece of the kiswa, the sacred Kaaba shroud.
The leader of Uzbekistan, in turn, expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of Saudi Arabia for the invaluable gift and the opportunities and favorable conditions created for our pilgrims to visit the centers of the Muslim world - Mecca and Medina. Last year alone, more than 800,000 of our citizens performed the Umrah pilgrimage, and 15,000 performed the Hajj pilgrimage.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to further improving the conditions and quality of services provided to Uzbek pilgrims, ensuring their safe and comfortable visit to Saudi Arabia.
