In Andijan region, a large-scale special operation was carried out by law enforcement agencies to combat corruption involving the misappropriation of land resources and the allocation of land for residential construction. This was officially reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.
The case emerged after citizen U.T. submitted a complaint to the Department for Combating Land Resource Misappropriation within the Criminal Investigation Department of the Andijan Regional Police Department. According to the information, under the decision of the Hokim of Buston district dated April 13, 2019, the LLC “B.N.” was allocated 2.5 hectares of land for building a greenhouse using hydroponic technology. However, there was an attempt to illegally reclassify the land as residential.
During the investigation, it was revealed that citizen J.M., using his connections in the regional hokimiyat and architectural department, demanded 44,000 USD to change the land’s designation, that is, to officially classify it as suitable for residential construction. He was caught with material evidence while receiving 10,000 USD and legal measures were taken.
A legal assessment of the incident was provided by law enforcement in cooperation with the regional prosecutor’s office. A criminal case has been initiated under part 4, clause "a" of article 168 and part 3, clause "a" of articles 28 and 211 of the Criminal Code. Investigations have begun.
Officials emphasized that public involvement and collaborative efforts of law enforcement are crucial in combating such cases. All guilty individuals will be held accountable by law.
