In the Syrdarya region, a tax official who showed inappropriate behavior towards a woman entrepreneur was dismissed after a major public outcry. This was announced to the public by the head of the human rights society “Ezgulik,” Abdurakhmon Tashanov.
According to information, the head of the tax inspection of Yangiyer city, A.B., for several months sent intrusive and meaningless SMS messages to a woman entrepreneur whose husband was working abroad, and harassed her. In some of his messages, it was noted that he sent inspectors to the woman’s store and later wrote that he was “concerned about her condition,” suggesting that they could meet in the evening “over a cup of tea.”
Frightened by these actions, the woman entrepreneur did not go to her store for several days and was forced to stay at home. This situation caused strong discontent among the public.
In connection with this fact, the Yangiyer city prosecutor’s office initiated a case under Article 183 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (minor hooliganism). In addition, the State Tax Committee appointed an internal investigation, and A.B. was dismissed from his position.
Human rights activist Abdurakhmon Tashanov, commenting on this incident, criticized the initiation of the case only under the article “minor hooliganism.” In his opinion, the incident should have been qualified as abuse of office and a threat to family stability in society.
“Disclosing a few SMS messages could make the life of one family even more complicated. But at the same time, the prosecutor’s office is hiding the obvious abuse of office. If such a situation had been caused by an ordinary person, he would have been strictly punished. Therefore, the decisive reaction of society is very important,” he wrote in his statement.
It is emphasized that in society it is important to react sharply to such cases, protect the rights of women, and strengthen the responsibility of officials. According to specialists, the open discussion of such incidents can serve as a lesson for others.
