According to a government decision, the Regulation on the “Procedure for preparing and conducting population and agricultural census in Uzbekistan” has been approved, reports UzNews.uz website.
According to the regulation, the population census will be held from January 15 to February 28, 2026. The official start date is January 15 at 00:00, and the total duration of the process is set at 45 days.
Personal and agricultural information will be collected, but changes occurring after the census date will not be considered. For example, children born after January 15, 2026 will not be included in the questionnaire forms, but information about persons who died after this date will be recorded.
The following categories of persons are not counted:
— citizens of Uzbekistan who have been abroad for more than one year;
— employees of foreign diplomatic missions, international organizations, and their family members;
— persons with diplomatic privileges under international agreements.
Each citizen is registered according to their permanent or temporary place of residence. Place of residence refers to a house, apartment, or other premises where a person spends most of their day and night.
It should be noted that the presidential decree on holding the population and agricultural census was signed in September 2025. The process will be carried out by “local seven” system staff using tablets.
