A 64-year-old woman, suspected of stealing a sheep in the Samarkand region, died during the investigation. Abdurahmon Toshanov, chairman of the "Ezguluk" human rights society, announced this on his social media page.
According to the information, he was detained as a precautionary measure on July 25 of this year and placed in pre-trial detention center No. 7 in Samarkand. Despite the fact that the suspect suffered from diabetes mellitus, his health was neglected. Although the defenders repeatedly requested the appointment of a medical examination, this request was rejected.
After the woman's condition deteriorated sharply, she was taken to a special medical institution in Tashkent - the "Sangorod" hospital. However, after a short period of treatment there, he was returned to the isolation ward. Shortly after, it was reported that he had died.
Official agencies - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor's Office, or the Security Service - have not yet commented on the incident. However, the public and human rights activists are asking to take this situation under serious control.
Representatives of the "Ezguluk" organization emphasized that imprisoning a person with a serious illness and not providing them with the necessary medical care contradicts the principles of humanism. They consider this situation a gross violation of human rights.
It is reported that an investigation into the situation has begun. Activists emphasize the need to improve the quality of medical services in investigative institutions and to revise the treatment of sick suspects.
The public hopes that an impartial investigation will be conducted and the perpetrators will be held accountable.
