At the age of 83, Uzbekistan's first Minister of Defense, Colonel-General Rustam Urmonovich Ahmedov, has passed away, Kursiv.media reported. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense press service.
According to the ministry, Rustam Ahmedov made a great contribution to the formation of the national army and ensuring the country's security in the early years of independence. He served in the Armed Forces for more than 40 years.
The late Rustam Ahmedov was born on November 10, 1943, in Bogdod district, Fergana region. From the summer of 1992 to the autumn of 1997, he served as Minister of Defense. The farewell ceremony will be held at his home in Mirzo-Ulugbek district, Tashkent, on October 13 at 11:30 a.m.
