An unpleasant incident occurred in the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region. A judge of the district civil court was arrested by law enforcement agencies while accepting a bribe. This operation was carried out in cooperation with the State Security Service, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Supreme Judicial Council.
It was revealed that the judge committed a legal violation while reviewing a 2022 alimony collection decision. The defendant had requested a review based on newly discovered circumstances. The judge demanded a $300 bribe to rule in favor of the plaintiff.
The judge was caught with physical evidence while receiving the money. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan has initiated a criminal case under Article 210, Part 2, Clause 'v' of the Criminal Code. Investigations are currently ongoing.
