A senior operational officer of the Jizzakh Regional Department for Combating Economic Crimes and the Pakhtakor District Department - an operational officer - was detained on suspicion of fraud, the State Security Service press service reported.
It turned out that he had conspired with a previously convicted acquaintance and gained the trust of the head of the equipment supply company. Through this, he won the contract for the purchase and sale of 20 interactive whiteboards through an electronic store with the Department of Preschool and School Education of the city of Jizzakh and promised to sell the whiteboards at a high price. He demanded 85 million soums for his services.
The investigation revealed that the senior operative, using his official position, planned to sell interactive whiteboards with a real value of 15.2 million soums for 25 million soums. During an operational event conducted in cooperation with the State Security Service and the prosecutor's office, he was detained while receiving 85 million soums. Subsequently, the operation was continued, and the department employee and the school principal were caught red-handed while receiving 30 million soums.
The Jizzakh regional prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case under Article 168 of the Criminal Code. Currently, the operative and the school principal have been arrested, and the investigation is actively ongoing. This event is considered a protest and a noteworthy event for the local community and the education sector.
