Traffic police officer in Navoi rewarded for refusing bribe

A traffic police officer who performed his duties honestly in the Karmana district of the Navoi region was rewarded by the state. It is reported that on April 7, traffic police officers stopped a Lacetti vehicle traveling along the Samarkand-Navoi route. During the inspection, it was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.
Subsequently, the driver's father offered the inspector a $1,000 bribe in exchange for not submitting the violation documents to court and for releasing the car from the impound lot. However, the officer refused this illegal offer and reported the incident to the internal affairs authorities.
During an operational event, the citizen was caught red-handed while attempting to give the $1,000 bribe to the inspector. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 211 of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway.
Captain Sherbek Turkhonov was awarded a cash prize of 12 million 360 thousand soums—30 times the base calculation amount—by the state for refusing the bribe and demonstrating loyalty to his professional duty.
In short, the traffic police officer in Karmana did not trade the law for money and set an example of honest service. This situation serves as a reminder once again: both the giver and the receiver of a bribe are held accountable. And honesty sometimes brings the best "bonus".
