Uzbek-Afghan pharmaceutical cooperation is entering a new stage

The Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Abdulla Azizov, held an official meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, Nuriddin Azizi, during his working visit to Kabul. The meeting discussed issues of strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties and expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector.

During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbek pharmaceutical products are distinguished by their high quality and competitiveness, which served as the basis for setting a priority task of increasing pharmaceutical trade between the two countries to 500 million US dollars.

The importance of establishing a joint operational working group to achieve this goal was emphasized. In particular, proposals were made to develop cooperation based on Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards in Afghanistan, as well as to establish direct cooperation with large distributors.

The parties also noted the need to establish a technical working group, intensify information exchange, and formalize bilateral cooperation agreements in the near future. These initiatives are considered an important step towards securing strategic interests in the pharmaceutical market and expanding investments in the sector.

The results of the meeting are expected to be of great importance in strengthening cooperation between the pharmaceutical industries of the two countries, improving product quality, and developing industries in accordance with international standards.
