A judge of the Syrdarya Regional Court for economic cases, E.S., has been detained on suspicion of receiving a bribe of 3,600 US dollars based on material evidence.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the official is suspected of demanding and receiving money in exchange for resolving an economic dispute under his proceedings at the cassation instance in favor of a limited liability company (LLC) operating in the city of Gulistan.
During an оператив operation, the judge was caught at the moment of receiving the money handed over as a bribe. The incident has been confirmed with material evidence.
The Supreme Court stated that systematic efforts are being carried out within the judicial system to combat corruption, ensure transparency in the sector, and cleanse the system of unfit personnel. In this regard, control and preventive measures have been strengthened.
It was also emphasized that preventing any illegal actions and abuse of official position among court employees is a priority task. It was noted that in case of any corruption-related incidents being identified, strict legal measures will be taken against those responsible.
Investigative actions are currently ongoing regarding this case. The incident once again brought the issue of oversight and responsibility within the judicial system into focus.
