Plov prices rose faster than inflation in April

In April, the price of plov in Uzbekistan increased significantly. According to data, the plov index in the country's regions rose by 2.84 percent. This figure is higher than the general inflation rate, showing that plov, one of the most beloved dishes among the people, is not immune to market price pressures.

The rise in plov prices is primarily driven by the increased cost of key ingredients. In particular, the growth in meat and carrot prices directly impacted the cost of the finished dish. Furthermore, changes in the prices of oil, chickpeas, cumin, salt, and other spices have exacerbated the overall price hike.

In April, the price of beef exceeded the 100,000 soum threshold in all regions of the country. The highest figure was recorded in the Fergana region, where the price of beef reached 122,868 soums. This has been one of the most significant factors in the rising cost of preparing plov.

Tashkent continues to lead in the price of a portion of finished plov. In the capital, the average check amounted to 122,543 soums. This figure shows that even basic dining expenses are gradually beginning to have a serious impact on the household budget. Simply put, plov is turning from a "weekend treat" into a dish that requires "consulting your wallet."

Price increases are not limited to meat or carrots. Products that seem minor but define the taste of plov, such as cumin, chickpeas, oil, and salt, have also become more expensive. This has led to an overall growth of the plov index across the republic.

Experts note that this situation can be explained by general price pressure in the food market, logistics costs, seasonal factors, and high demand for certain products. Because plov is not just a dish, it has become a popular economic indicator that reflects the prices of several staple products.

The growth in the plov index is not just simple statistics for the population. It clearly shows the price changes felt in daily life. After all, plov is a permanent guest on the Uzbek table and an integral part of weddings, family gatherings, and circles of friends.

The price hike in April shows that changes in the food market are directly affecting public consumption. If the prices of staple ingredients continue to rise, the cost of finished dishes may also increase further. Therefore, price stability in the market is not only of economic but also of social importance.

In short, the plov index this time is not just a simple number, but a reflection of the real situation around the dining table. Prices are rising, and wallets are feeling it very well.
