Hollowed-out 'ghost tree' discovered in Uzbekistan

An unusual phenomenon has been observed in Uzbekistan: a tree that continues to live despite being hollowed out by fire. Such trees are often called 'ghost trees' and amaze people with their extraordinary appearance.
The reason for this is that the most vital part of the tree for its survival is not in the center, but in the layer near the bark. It is through this outer layer that water and nutrients move. Therefore, even if the inside of the tree is completely burned or rotten, as long as the layer under the bark remains intact, it continues to live. As a result, the tree's leaves remain green and it continues to grow.
Such cases are usually caused by several factors:
— fire or lightning strikes,
— long-term decay of the inner part,
— fungal diseases,
— severe damage to the tree's core.
Interestingly, some trees continue to live for many more years even when their interior is almost completely hollow. This proves once again how wonderful and mysterious nature is.
