Verdict delivered against man who forced his girlfriend to attempt suicide in Samarkand

In the Urgut district of the Samarkand region, a 23-year-old man was sentenced to prison after learning that his girlfriend was going to marry someone else. This was reported based on court documents.
It was established that L.Yu. and G.A. met over the phone in February 2022. They communicated and were in a romantic relationship for over three and a half years. The man expressed his intention to marry her, gained her trust, and forced her to send semi-nude photos via WhatsApp.
In January 2025, L.Yu. went to Russia for work. During this time, suitors from another district came for G.A., and after her parents gave their consent, an engagement ceremony was held on July 16.
Upon hearing this news, the man pressured the girl, saying he would commit suicide if she did not marry him. He also threatened to distribute her private photos on social media if she married someone else.
In court, the victim stated that L.Yu. had repeatedly intimidated her by saying, "If you don't kill yourself, I will distribute your photos." Following this, the girl attempted suicide by drinking acetic acid in the basement of her house. Her mother rushed her to the hospital, and doctors saved her life.
During the trial, L.Yu. partially admitted his guilt, stating that he had mentioned distributing the photos in a fit of anger and that he regretted his actions.
The Urgut District Court for Criminal Cases found him guilty under Article 103-1, Part 2, Clause "v" of the Criminal Code. According to the court verdict, he was sentenced to 4 years and 4 months of imprisonment.
