Artificial intelligence services to be introduced at the National Library

The National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi plans to upgrade its reader service system to a modern level. According to a new draft government resolution, artificial intelligence technologies, digitalization, and automated analysis systems may be widely implemented in the library's operations.
The project envisions assigning several additional tasks to the National Library in the information and library sector. Specifically, it plans to develop programs that use artificial intelligence to analyze readers' interests and needs, recommend relevant literature, and simplify the information search process.
This innovation could create great convenience for readers. For example, when a user searches for a book or article on a specific topic, artificial intelligence can quickly find similar sources, recommended literature, and necessary information resources. This will significantly simplify the process of using the library.
Furthermore, by August 1, 2027, plans include digitizing information resources, implementing automatic recognition systems, and carrying out the cataloging and classification of publications. Such efforts are crucial for preserving, organizing, and providing quick access to the library's collection.
The project also aims to increase the number of interactive services and create broader opportunities for accessing international information resources. This will enable readers to effectively utilize not only local but also foreign scientific, cultural, and educational sources.
In addition, it is planned to allocate a portion of the “Ma’rifat Markazi” building to the National Library for reader services. At the same time, a “Readers' Alley” may be established in the form of an “Open-Air Library.”
This initiative aims to transform the library from just a place to store books into a center for modern knowledge, communication, and cultural environment. Creating an open, comfortable, and technologically advanced environment for readers is expected to increase youth interest in reading.
In short, the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies is planned for the National Library's operations. By providing recommendations to readers, digitizing resources, cataloging, and expanding interactive services, the library will adapt to the demands of a new era. Now, searching for books will also switch to “smart mode.”
