The home-and-away round of 16 of the Elite Asian Champions League has come to an end.
According to the results of the group matches, 16 teams from the West and East regions, 8 each, advanced to the next round. After the 1/8 final matches, 8 clubs said goodbye to the competition.
In the West, Al Wasl (UAE), Istiqlol (Iran), Al Rayyan (Qatar) and Pakhtakor (Uzbekistan) have already finished their participation in this stage, while in the East, Shanghai Port (China), Shanghai Shenhua (China), Johor Darul Ta'zim (Malaysia) and Vissel Kobe (Japan) have finished the competition in the quarterfinals.
Now, the top 8 teams from both regions remain, and according to the tournament regulations, all matches from the 1/4 finals onwards will be held in Saudi Arabia. Two stadiums in Jeddah - King Abdullah (capacity 63,000) and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal (capacity 27,000) - will host the centralized matches.
The next format of the Elite Asian Champions League will look like this. After the draw on March 14, the teams will be divided into four pairs, in the West-East pattern. The quarter-finals will be held on April 25-26, while the semi-finals are scheduled for April 29-30. The decisive final match of the tournament will be held on May 4 at the magnificent King Abdullah Stadium. The final will consist of one match. There will also be no match for third place.
