Cosmin Olariu takes charge of UAE national team

Ahead of the decisive stage of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, one of the main rivals of the Uzbekistan national team in the group, the UAE national team, has changed its head coach.

The UAE Football Federation officially announced Romanian specialist Cosmin Olariu as the head coach of the national team.

Who is Olariu?
- 55 years old.
- Worked in clubs such as the Saudi Arabian national team, Al-Hilal, Al-Ain, and Shabab Al-Ahli.
- Currently manages the UAE team Sharjah.
- Familiar with local football, has extensive experience in the region.

Situation in Group A
UAE is in 3rd place with 13 points from 8 matches. The national team will play its next two matches in the following order:

- June 5 – against Uzbekistan (at home)
- June 10 – against the Kyrgyz Republic (away)
