Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has made a serious statement about the recent neglect and the sharp increase in the number of games that have been played by players. He believes that judging players only by their performance on the pitch is a wrong approach from a human and professional point of view.
“It is not normal that players are working almost non-stop all year round. People justify their workload by saying that they are getting a big salary. But it is not about money - it is about people's health and physical fitness,” Maresca told reporters.
Fatigue and injury risks are real
“I am not thinking about next season right now. We have two important matches ahead of us: the last matchday in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest, and then the Conference League final against Betis in just 72 hours. It is a very short time. It is an almost impossible schedule for players.”
Maresca emphasized not only fatigue, but also the high level of vulnerability of the players. According to him, the fact that team members are constantly injured is also due to this load and the lack of sufficient opportunity for recovery.
Don't forget that football players are human
“Nobody cares about the condition of football players. If they are tired - let them not play, if they are injured - let them change. But they are also human, not robots. The attitude towards them needs to be reconsidered,” said the coach of the “aristocrats”.
The tight competition schedule introduced by the authorities and organizations is threatening the health of players. This situation has led to the fact that many stars have been out of action for a long time in recent seasons.
The editorial staff of Zamin.uz believes that the EPL and other competition organizations need to reconsider the issue of player health. Shouldn't human life and health be above any financial gain?
