The 2024/25 season of the Russian Premier League has concluded. The final round brought unexpected, sensational, and historic events for football fans.
The main event of the season happened in Krasnodar. FC Krasnodar convincingly defeated Moscow’s renowned Dynamo club at home with a score of 3:0, claiming the Russian Premier League title for the first time in their history, earning 67 points. This result marked the first-ever championship for the club, sparking real celebrations among players and fans.
Zenit, who finished in second place, ended their several-year championship streak. Despite an assured victory over Akhmat (3:0) in the last round, Zenit remained behind Krasnodar by just one point. Thus, Zenit's six-year reign as champions ended, concluding the season in second place with 66 points.
This season was also successful and memorable for CSKA Moscow. The team, featuring Uzbekistan national team player Abbos Fayzullaev, finished third with 59 points. The Uzbek midfielder participated in important matches, gaining fan trust, and scored two significant goals, demonstrating his growing role and position in the club.
Additionally, Rubin Kazan, where another Uzbek player—defender Rustamjon Ashurmatov—plays, finished in a strong position. Rubin collected 45 points, securing seventh place in the standings. Ashurmatov's consistent and reliable performances were key to this achievement.
In the lower part of the Russian Premier League standings, the situation unfolded differently. Unfortunately, this season was unsuccessful for Orenburg and Fakel, both teams being relegated from the elite division. These clubs now face a difficult period of rebuilding.
Meanwhile, Pari NN and Akhmat, finishing the season with lower results, will participate in playoff matches to retain their Premier League status. These clubs need serious preparations to maintain their positions.
In summary, the 2024/25 season was truly sensational for Russian football. Krasnodar’s historic championship, the end of Zenit’s long dominance, and impressive performances by Uzbek players at CSKA and Rubin made this season particularly interesting.
Fans now eagerly await the next season. Will Krasnodar maintain their success, or will Zenit reclaim their throne? Time will answer these questions. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
