The Football Federation of Turkmenistan has appointed Rovshan Meredov as the new head coach of the national team. The 42-year-old specialist, with his vast experience, will bring new ideas and goals to Turkmen football. Meredov is not only a football player but also someone who has achieved great success as a coach.

He started his football career in 1999 with the team "Nebitchi" and later played for "Dagdan", "Galkan", "Ahal", and "Yedigen". His experience extends not only to professional playing but also to his subsequent coaching career.

Rovshan Meredov began his coaching career in 2013 and over the years worked with the teams "Yedigen" and "Ahal" from Ashgabat. Under his leadership, the teams secured high positions in the national championship, and "Ahal" won the Turkmenistan Cup in 2017.

Additionally, Meredov has experience working abroad. In 2020, he coached the Uzbek team "Qizilqum", and in 2022, he coached the Kyrgyz team "Kaganat".

Since 2025, Rovshan Meredov has been working as the head of the Technical Department of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. At the same time, since 2020, he has been a technical expert for FIFA in the World Football Development Department, headed by Arsène Wenger.

Thus, Meredov has replaced Mergen Orazov, who managed the national team of Turkmenistan since 2023. On June 10, Turkmenistan’s national team will host Thailand in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. The match will be held at the Ashgabat stadium.

Local and international football fans are eagerly awaiting how the new head coach will lead the national team to new goals. Meredov’s experience and his determination to achieve great successes with the team promise new achievements.
