The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the list of clubs that have officially received licenses for the 2025/26 season. According to it, 17 clubs from Uzbekistan have won the right to participate in continental competitions.
With this result, our country took third place after Qatar (18) and Indonesia (18), once again showing that it is among the leading countries in Asian football. Developing countries such as the UAE (14 clubs), Saudi Arabia (13), Oman (12), and Vietnam (11) also actively participated.
Of our neighbors, only 2 clubs from Tajikistan and Turkmenistan managed to receive licenses. This once again demonstrates Uzbekistan's dominance in the region.
Uzbekistan, which showed high activity in the 2023/24 season with 17 clubs, increased this figure to 19 in 2024/25. However, the suspension of the Turon and Metallurg clubs affected the total number this season.
All 16 clubs participating in the Super League have fully obtained AFC licenses. Of the Pro League teams, only the Tashkent Lokomotiv club met these standards and was included in the list of licensed teams.
It should be noted that according to the Super League and Pro League regulations, a club that did not previously have an AFC license could be deprived of the right to participate in the Super League next season. However, according to the new edition, this requirement has been abolished. That is, a club that did not have a license in the 2026 season will also be able to participate in the Super League.
This news opens up great opportunities for football clubs in our country. Because having an international license will take teams to a new level not only on the sports field, but also in financial and organizational terms.
In the graph below, you can see how many clubs have received licenses from which country.
