Legendary American boxer, 62-year-old Evander Holyfield considers himself the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. According to him, the public does not recognize him enough, and many people, without basis, continue to place Muhammad Ali above everyone else.
“I became world champion four times over a 24-year career. This is an achievement that no one before me had accomplished. Yet despite that, Ali is still recognized as the greatest. In fact, I surpassed his achievements,” Holyfield said in an interview with SecondsOut.
He emphasized that modern champions like Usyk are following exactly the path he took — becoming the undisputed champion in cruiserweight, then claiming titles in the heavyweight division.
“Muhammad Ali was a three-time world champion. I was a four-time champion. Why don’t people talk about me? That means I’m better!” he added.
Holyfield’s statements have sparked heated debates among the public and sports fans. Comparisons with the legendary Ali remain one of the most controversial topics to this day. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
