Ukrainian national team and Chelsea striker Mikhail Mudryk's future in football has been put under serious scrutiny due to a doping scandal. He has been formally charged by the Football Association of England and could be banned from football for up to 4 years if the case is officially confirmed.
According to Marca, a long break in football forced Mudryk to consider changing his sporting background. The Ukrainian forward has already started practicing track and field and aims to compete for the Ukrainian national team at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The Olympic path is not easy. To achieve this, he must meet the minimum requirements set by World Athletics and successfully pass the qualifying round for the 2027 Ukrainian national competitions. According to reports, Mudryk has actively begun working in this direction and is regularly training with former Olympians.
As is known, Chelsea spent nearly €100 million on Shakhtar, including bonuses, to acquire Mudryk. Therefore, his disqualification is causing significant discussion not only in the football community but also in the transfer market.
If he really switched to track and field and participated in the Olympics, this could go down in history as a rare occurrence in the world of sports.
