
The Uzbekistan national team achieved another success at the Taekwondo WT World Championship in Wuxi, China, the NOC reported. Svetlana Osipova, a member of the national team, defeated all her opponents to the final, stopping only in the decisive match, and won the silver medal of the World Championship.
Competing in the +73 kg weight category, Osipova decisively defeated an athlete from Chinese Taipei in the first round. In the following stages, he achieved very convincing victories against representatives of South Korea and China. In the final, she was met by one of the most experienced athletes in world taekwondo - Nafisa Kush from Turkey.
In the decisive match, which took place in a heated struggle, Osipova demonstrated her skill and will, repeatedly trying to gain an advantage. However, her Turkish opponent, distinguished by her experience, outperformed her by several points, and as a result, Svetlana lost the final and was limited to second place.
At the same time, this medal entered history as the athlete's third achievement at the world championships. Previously, she won gold at the 2022 World Championships and silver in 2023. This year's result once again confirmed his stable athletic form and international prestige.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the Taekwondo Federation highly appreciated Osipova's result, calling her an example for the country's taekwondo school. "Svetlana is distinguished not only physically, but also by her mental stability. Each of his speeches serves as a source of inspiration for our youth," the NOC said in a statement.
Sports experts also note Osipova's result as an important milestone in the development of taekwondo. His superior movements and tactical preparation in all matches up to the final were highly appreciated.
This silver medal at the World Championship became the second prize for the Uzbekistan national team in the competition. Previously, another athlete from our country won a bronze medal.
