
The Russian national football team suffered its first defeat since 2021. Under the leadership of Valery Karpin, the team lost to the Chilean national team in a friendly match.
The match ended with a 2-0 victory in favor of the Chileans. The winning goals were scored by Gonzalo Tapia and Ben Brereton Díaz.
This defeat marks the first loss for Karpin's team since their last defeat against Croatia during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers held on Croatian soil. Since then, the Russian team had played 23 friendly matches without a single defeat.
