Former football legend Lothar Matthäus has shared his thoughts on the German national team's prospects in the World Cup. The team, led by Julian Nagelsmann, recently secured their World Cup qualification by defeating Slovakia 6-0 in Leipzig.
In his article, Matthäus writes: "With all due respect to their opponents, Germany wants to compete against the strongest teams, like group winners England, Portugal, or France. If we can replicate the performance we saw in Leipzig, we will be on equal footing with these teams.
We saw this during the summer. Even in the Nations League losses against Portugal and France, Germany was not inferior to their opponents.
If the German national team demonstrates the same dedication, passion, and team unity that they showed against Slovakia, they have nothing to fear. There’s no need for self-doubt.
Germany is not a small team. I have always maintained that, even in poor form, Germany remains one of the favorites for the World Cup."
It is worth noting that the German national team failed to advance past the group stage in the last two World Cup tournaments. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
