Following the results of the 2026 World Cup draw, Colombian national team head coach Nestor Lorenzo reaffirmed his confidence in his team. He emphasized that Colombia has developed into a strong squad over the past year, as evidenced by the results achieved in the qualifiers.
As is known, the Colombians will face Portugal, Uzbekistan, and an opponent coming through the playoffs in Group "K." The coach believes the group won't be easy, but Colombia isn't afraid of such challenges.
"At the beginning of the year, we lost two games against Brazil, but in the next stage, the team showed character: five victories, four draws - this is a sign of significant growth for the team. I hope this development will accelerate as the competition approaches," said Lorenzo.
According to him, there isn't much time to prepare for the World Cup. The Colombian national team will hold a special 20-day training camp before the start of the competition. This period is expected to be a decisive factor in bringing the players' physical condition to the optimal level.
"We must find the team's form in the shortest possible time and bring the players to the World Cup in their best condition. Regardless of which city we play in, we fully resolve organizational issues. Our goal is to get out of the group with worthy performances," the coach added.
Group K could be a serious challenge for Colombia, but Lorenzo's self-confidence and demanding approach to the team also inspire great hope among fans. The national team will certainly make every effort to advance to the next stage and intensify the competition.
