The French journalist Loic Tanzi highly praised PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's performance in the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo. The match ended 1-1 after regular and extra time.
The trophy was decided in a penalty shootout, where Safonov emerged as the decisive hero: he saved four out of five penalties, securing victory for the Parisians.
According to Tanzi, Safonov's performance in this final can be termed historic. The journalist remarked that such a result in a penalty shootout is an outstanding achievement, and after the final, he stated that the Russian goalkeeper deserves to become PSG's first-choice goalkeeper.
"This is a world-class achievement. After this, Safonov must undoubtedly become PSG's number one.
He has to play for the team," Tanzi's words were quoted by "Sport-Express." This season, Safonov has played in four matches across all competitions, conceding three goals.
