Gennady Zyuganov Praises Matvey Safonov's Achievement

The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), Gennady Zyuganov, shared his thoughts on goalkeeper Matvei Safonov's success. The Russian national team football player won the Intercontinental Cup with France's PSG club, saving four penalty kicks in the final shootout.

"I used to attend matches where Lev Yashin played, and I also watched his training sessions. I was amazed by his reaction speed.

It is no coincidence that he received the 'Ballon d'Or'. It is gratifying to see that Yashin's glorious traditions have a successor," Zyuganov was quoted as saying by the publication *Sovetsky Sport*.

Safonov has played in four matches this season. He made his first appearance after his teammate Lucas Chevalier sustained an injury.
