The Brazilian football star Neymar, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, made a bold statement that has not left fans or the national team’s head coach indifferent. The 33-year-old forward openly declared his intention to participate in the World Cup and restore Brazil's glory.
Having recently undergone knee surgery, Neymar is currently undergoing rehabilitation. According to his club, "Santos", the surgery was successful, and the player could return to full training in approximately a month. This has further boosted his confidence in his future plans.
Notably, Neymar last played for the Brazil national team in September 2023. In that match, he sustained an injury and had to leave the field prematurely. Since then, he has not appeared for the national team, but his major ambition remains unchanged.
The forward is determined to participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in North America. He even made a direct appeal to the team’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti:
“We will do everything we can. Even if it feels impossible, we want to bring the World Cup title back to Brazil. Ancelotti, help us. If we reach the final, I promise to score,” Neymar said with confidence.
Ancelotti, however, took a realistic approach to the situation. According to him, Neymar’s participation in the World Cup is not yet guaranteed. A final decision will be made in May. If the player is physically fit and ready in terms of gameplay, he will secure a spot on the roster.
In summary, Neymar’s dream is ambitious, but the path is challenging. However, if he returns to full fitness and proves his capability, Brazilian fans might once again witness their star shining on the grand stage.
