Benzema expected to become Real Madrid ambassador after retirement

Karim Benzema, regarded as one of the most influential and prolific forwards in Real Madrid history, has continued his career in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad after leaving Madrid. However, it seems the French striker’s ties with the “Royal Club” will not be completely severed.
According to journalist Jorge Picon, the 38-year-old Benzema will take on a new role within Real Madrid’s structure after ending his professional career. The source says he is expected to start working as an official Real Madrid ambassador. The role includes being the face of the club, attending official events, and promoting the brand and history internationally.
It is reported that during talks with club representatives, Karim responded positively to the proposal and said he is ready to accept the mission.
As a reminder, Benzema played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2023 and won 25 trophies during his fourteen years in Madrid. They include five UEFA Champions League titles and four Spanish league championships. He holds a special place in the club’s history not only for his goals, but also for his composure in decisive moments, his ability to bring teammates into play, and his leadership.
The striker’s current contract with Al-Ittihad runs until June 30, 2026. At the same time, earlier reports said the Saudi club had offered Benzema a new deal lasting until the summer of 2028. In addition, Lyon—the club that launched Karim into top-level football—is also said to be urging him to return to Ligue 1 and help the team.
In short, Benzema has several paths ahead: stay in Saudi Arabia and extend his deal, return to Europe, or come back to Madrid after retirement as Real Madrid’s official ambassador. One thing is clear: wherever Karim is, his name will remain one of the brightest chapters in Real Madrid’s history.
