Neuer sets new record, surpassing Messi

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has achieved another historic milestone in the Champions League. The quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid marked the 137th appearance for the 40-year-old keeper in the UCL.
Importantly, this figure also represents Neuer's 137th start for Bayern Munich specifically. In doing so, he has reached a new historical milestone among the players with the most starts for a single club in the Champions League.
With this result, the German goalkeeper surpassed football legend Lionel Messi. The Argentine star had started 136 Champions League matches while playing for Barcelona.
In the current rankings, Neuer now moves into second place. The top spot belongs to former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who started 149 UCL matches with the Madrid club.
It is worth noting that Bayern defeated Real Madrid 6-4 on aggregate in this quarter-final to advance to the semi-finals. Neuer's consistent performance is recognized as one of the key factors in the team's success.
