UFC's current middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev spoke openly about his relationship with MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov. According to him, there are no conflicts between them as some might think:
- "We grew up admiring Khabib and we still do," said Khamzat.
Chimayev spoke very highly of Khabib, describing him as one of the greatest fighters in sports history. He stated that he has been inspired by Khabib since childhood and continues to maintain deep respect for him:
- "He is one of the greatest fighters in history," said Chimayev.
According to the champion, rumors of a misunderstanding between them have spread on social media, but this does not reflect reality. Chimayev emphasized that he views Khabib as a close person:
- "People think there is some problem between me and him, but that's not true. I like Khabib. He is my Muslim brother," said Khamzat Chimaev.
According to him, both came from humble beginnings and understand each other well. Therefore, he referred to Khabib as a "brother," highlighting their Islamic brotherhood:
"He is from a poor village just like me. We are like brothers," Chimayev expressed the relationship briefly and clearly.
As a reminder, Khamzat Chimaev will have his next fight on May 10 at UFC 328 against American Sean Strickland.
