Javohir Sindorov returns home as the winner of the Candidates Tournament

Uzbek chess player Javohir Sindorov has returned home after winning the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament. He was greeted with a grand celebration at Tashkent International Airport by fans, sports officials, and government representatives. During the ceremony, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov announced that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Sindorov the "Order of Labor Glory" for his outstanding achievement.
The 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament has concluded, with our compatriot Javohir Sindorov emerging victorious. The competition was held at a high level and attracted the attention of the global chess community.
On April 16, an awards ceremony took place to honor the tournament winners. Sindorov's success was officially recognized, further cementing his prominent position in world chess.
Today, the champion returned to his homeland. A grand welcoming ceremony was organized for him at Tashkent International Airport, where fans, the sports community, and officials gave him a warm reception.
Additionally, by decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Sindorov was awarded the Order of 'Mehnat Shuhrati' (Labor Glory). Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov officially read the decree during the ceremony at the airport.
