Manchester United delays £2 billion stadium constructionManchester United delays £2 billion stadium construction

The implementation timeline for Manchester United's new £2 billion stadium project is facing delays due to issues related to land acquisition. Sebastian Coe, head of the Old Trafford regeneration task force, stated that plans for the 100,000-seat arena remain somewhat uncertain due to complex logistical processes. Goal.com reports on the matter.

The project, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, aims not only to build a modern sports complex but also to construct new residential housing and educational institutions in the Trafford area. However, according to Sebastian Coe, the process of acquiring various land plots around the stadium is moving slower than expected. This is currently preventing the establishment of a definitive start date for construction works.

Drawing on his experience with the London 2012 Olympics, Sebastian Coe emphasized that developing infrastructure around sports facilities is the fastest way to improve the lives of local residents and attract investment. He believes that a world-class stadium will serve as a powerful catalyst for the region's economic growth.

Currently, the task force continues to study the legal and financial aspects of the project. Final recommendations and a clear roadmap for the regeneration of Old Trafford are expected to be presented by the end of 2026. Until then, club management and fans will have to wait for land issues to be fully resolved.
