In the world of technology, an update and support period is set for each device. Recently, one of China’s leading brands, Xiaomi, officially announced that it has stopped providing software and security updates for a number of its models.
According to the announcement by the company, the following 12 smartphone models will no longer receive updates:
- Redmi 10 5G
- Redmi 11 Prime 5G
- Redmi Note 11E 5G
- Redmi Note 11R
- Poco M4 5G
- Poco C40
- Redmi Note 11T Pro
- Redmi Note 11T Pro+
- Redmi K50i
- Poco X4 GT
- Redmi K40S
- Poco F4
For all devices in this list, support for MIUI system updates, security patches, and Android version updates is officially terminated. This means users will not receive new features, system stability improvements, or security fixes.
Such a decision is usually made about 2–3 years after the model’s release. During this time, the manufacturer provides sufficient software and technical support. However, mobile technologies develop rapidly, each model reaches its “lifespan,” and is replaced by newer, more advanced devices.
Therefore, the main recommendation for owners of these smartphones is to plan to switch to a new device soon. The absence of security updates could eventually endanger personal data and user safety.
Of course, these smartphones may still work, but they remain unprotected against system vulnerabilities. This is particularly risky for users who actively use the internet.
Xiaomi introduces dozens of new models every year, and naturally, support for older devices is limited. The company also notifies users about its update policy in advance.
In short, these 12 models are now officially “retired.” Users are advised to switch to modern devices to ensure security and access to new features. Mobile technology updates quickly, and our devices must keep pace. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
