Company founder and CEO Amnon Shashua has announced he will step down after nearly three decades at the helm. This decision comes as the company enters a new phase of development, aggressively expanding into the market for robotaxis and humanoid robots, reports Techcrunch.com. reports .
According to official documents released by the company, Shashua will continue to serve until a successor is found. The history of Mobileye began with computer vision chips created based on Amnon Shashua's research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Today, the brand has become a major global player supplying chips for automotive safety and driver-assistance systems.
Partnership with Intel and historic IPO
Mobileye is also known for having the largest IPO in the history of the Israeli economy. In 2017, Intel Corporation acquired the company for $15.3 billion. Although Mobileye returned to the stock market as an independent public company in 2022, Intel remains its largest shareholder.Under Shashua's leadership, Mobileye evolved from a simple chip supplier into a giant developing fully autonomous driving systems. The company currently provides self-driving systems in partnership with Volkswagen and its subsidiary MOIA. Mobileye 3.0: Future Strategy
In January of this year, Mobileye acquired Mentee Robotics, a startup owned by Shashua, for $900 million. The executive dubbed this deal "Mobileye 3.0."
