Microsoft has restricted some Chinese companies’ access to its cybersecurity alert system. This decision was made after major hacking attacks on the company’s servers. There are suspicions that the Chinese government may be behind these attacks.
Microsoft usually warns its partners around the world in advance about threats. This allows experts to take protective measures earlier. However, according to specialists, information obtained through Chinese companies may have fallen into the hands of hackers and been misused.
In June and July, Microsoft informed its partners about security issues. Experts noted that soon after this, attacks began, and pointed out the timing match between these events.
The company has now announced that it will no longer provide some Chinese firms with special codes used to check threats. These codes help experts strengthen systems faster. But if they fall into hackers’ hands, attacks could become even stronger.
