X blocked the European Commission's account - the conflict is escalating

Tension between the X social network and the European Commission has intensified. After the European Commission imposed a €120 million fine on Platform X, accusing it of violating the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA), the social network blocked the Commission's advertising account.

According to Nikita Bir, product manager of X, European Commission representatives logged back into an advertising account that had been inactive for a long time and posted misleading content contrary to the platform's rules.

According to one, the Commission, taking advantage of the vulnerability of X's Ad Composer tool, posted a simulated link to the video and artificially enlarged its scope.

The X platform assessed the situation as a violation and blocked the account.

The European Commission, in turn, punished X for misleading users with the blue symbol used for "verified accounts" and for not complying with transparency requirements.
