AI tools that assist in the programming process do not always work perfectly. A recent incident involving a programmer named Alexey Grigorev clearly proved this. When he tried to migrate his site to the Amazon Web Services cloud system, he used the Claude Code AI agent. However, due to technical errors and human error, a database accumulated over more than two years and two sites were completely deleted. Reports 3dnews.ru.
According to the details of the incident, the programmer used Terraform but forgot to upload the file containing system settings. As a result, the AI misinterpreted the resources, considered them duplicates, and executed the "destroy" command. During this process, not only the new site but also existing resources and backups were deleted. The programmer had to contact Amazon technical support to recover the data.
Alexey Grigorev blames his own carelessness rather than the AI for this situation. To avoid such mistakes in the future, he implemented an automated database verification system and decided to perform deletion processes only manually. He also started using S3 storage to keep Terraform settings more secure. This event once again reminded us how important human oversight is when using technology.
